The big day!!! It’s almost here and you have everything laid out to perfection. There is just one problem. How do you wear your wedding hair?! The pictures you take will be forever. The way you look will be glued in the photos for the remainder of your life and far past that. I know we all look at old wedding photos of people we know and think to ourselves; WHAT on earth was she thinking?! Here are a few tips to help you choose your own wedding hairstyles!
The most important thing to consider is your face shape;
Oval faces - This is a face shape that allows for any kind of style. You will look great with your hair half up, all up, all down. It doesn’t matter. You pick what you like and dive in. Keep in mind… Some hair styles are just plain unattractive. The 80’s side pony tail may fit your face but most people won’t even be looking at your face if you have a big nub hanging off the side of your head.
Round Faces - Height at the top of your head makes your face appear longer. That is exactly what you want! Add some back combing into your hair and you will bring elegance to your wedding day. If you plan to do bangs, skip the side swoop. This swoop brings the eye to the widest part of your face making it look wider.
Square Faces - If you have a square face you, this means you have straighter angles on your face structure. You can soften this with loose, sexy curls that sweep past your face. Curly hair will distract the eye enough to make everyone look at your face and hair in unison. Never pull your hair completely up; this makes your most prominent feature stand out to everyone!
Heart Shaped - There is not much you need to worry about with this shape, similar to the oval shape. Your biggest issue tends to be your forehead. By doing a simple off center part and allowing your bangs to sweep, you will throw off the size of your forehead. Try to avoid pinning your hair flat to your head. Wedding hair accessories are great, but you want to use them with caution.
Oblong Faces - This is the one face shape that can handle hair being plastered to your head! It will bring out the width of your face and keep the length from appearing longer then it is. You can look truly stunning with this sleek style. Accessories sitting high off your head should be avoided at all costs. You would only end up making your face look longer.
Years in the hair business have taught me all the “what not’s” of hair dos. I hope these wedding hair ideas and tips can help you out in picking that perfect style for your perfect day! And remember, you always want to complement your hairstyle with the appropriate makeup. They are both important.
